Well my sister is walking in SF for a cancer society and need to raise money $$$$$.

I thought I could make her some (150 cookies) purple ribbon cookies and others and she can sell them to raise money, I believe she need to raise $2,000. We are thinking of decorating them in a few different styles, wrap and everything....and sell them for $5.

What are you thoughts??????

They will be between 3-5 in, in size. I would love feedback....Would you buy them to help support?????? Is that too much??????

Thanks!

It sounds good, but there are a few problems.

Unless you have a non-profit tax id number, your sales would not count as charitable donations, and you have to report all the income.

You could donate the cookies to a charity, and they can sell them, if you have a licensed kitchen.

You would probably also have to have basic, simple ingredient labels. The would not need the nutritional info, just the list of ingredients.

I think $5 is very reasonable.

I'm not a business. I do this as a hobby....

Do I still need a license? I could do a sticker on the back. We plan to sell them to people at work, not out on the street.

Thanks for your help.

I think that is a great idea and I thinkyou will get a great response. I recently sold some ribbons to a team in PA and they sold all 50 of them. i wrapped them individually and they sold them at the walk.

Just make sure to put the ingredients on the so people know what is in them.

Have fun and good luck.

i don't think you would need a liscence... i'm certainly not an expert, but kids at school and people at church are constantly having bake sales to raise funds. maybe its because they're non-profits? you could always pair up with your church or a club and that might make it more legit AND get the word out AND get more bakers involved icon_biggrin.gif great news for the good cause

I did some pink ribbon cookies for our Relay For Life (pics are in my photos) and we sold them for $1.50 ea. They were probably 2 1/2 inches across, and they sold pretty well. Next year I'll do them sooner and try to sell them the week before, but this year I just thought of it at the last minute and barely had time to get them finished before the event.

I think a 5 inch cookie would sell well for $5.00, especially if people know it's for a good cause.

Good luck!
Laura.

I think it would sell well. People are buying the cookie, yes, but they are donating to a good cause. Just make that plain, and people should snap them up......... I know some people, when you do that, tell them why you're selling the cookie, they will pay you more than you are asking, to make a donation.
