thank you. i found that talking smiley at walmart for less then $3. smack it and it says about five diferent expressions. the cake was supposed to have a mixed ballon and ribbon topper; colors similar to the cake- i contacted the "customer" practicaly once to twice a week over the last six weeks leading up to the graduation party regarding the topper- even offered to buy it myself online for a measly fee of $4 plus a few bucks shipping. she said she was going to go shoppign and look for one (we have to shop an hour away- small town ya know) anyways this went on every two weeks and the day OF delivery i called over and spoke to the ordering party and was asked if a topper was really necessary or i quote "does it really need something on top?" i slammed myhead on the desk knowing they hadn't bothered with getting one. so i threw on that smiley; stopped and got two of those package ribbons so the cake wouldn't look naked.

i've done cakes in the past for them and get products from her business in exchange- she likes to "pay" upon order and had ordered two months ago. well i had to complete the order since the products were gone by now.

at least this time the order was placed well enough in advance- usually is almost the last minute so I dont think i'll be doing another large order for them again.

this isn't the one i had picked out but i can't seem to find it in my emails or files anymore. the i found had blue black white silver etc.. and was really nice for four dollars. for four dollars i could have saved myself a big headache.

the one i'd chosen was one that actually sat on a table top (had the suction cup bottom) but this gives you an idea of what i meant. it would have looked better then what i tossed on at the last minute due to the client- er - dropping the ball.

no way.i used to live in spokane and get my cake stuff there lol i now live 3 hours away near lewiston idaho

well she moved over to sullivan i think; some where near ITT. she used to have a place on sprague before that.

I also saw your cakes and they are great! Yes, we really are our own worst critics! It was so hard when I had 3 different people tell me to my face that I "should get a new hobbie, because it will never amount to anything for me". Or that " cake decorating is so ordinary, anyone can do it"( meaning, I shouldn't be proud because its not that great). Well, let me tell you, I was really down about it all too. I really thought about stopping decorating cakes. But thank goodness that I have my loving family and friends to support me, and that I found C.C Who cares if what I do isnt that great? Who cares if "anyone can do it?" Acutally, not everyone can. Decorating needs an eye for how colors go together, for detail and sense of "arrangement", etc. We all here on C.C. have it! You have that! Remember that cake decorating is an art! There is no right or wrong!! So don't tell me that what I do it crap!!! Its not!!!! I would like to see them try it! I thought about it all and I realized that all these people that put me down were a) jealous, or b) just plain ignorant! Now I can rub in their face that, sure my cakes are not that great, but I AM GETTING MONEY FOR THEM, AND THEY SURE ARE HELPING ME PAY FOR STUFF. Who is laughing now, right? This was all because I didnt let my own criticism and other's put downs get me out of this great thing to do.


When you look at the exquisite and wonderful cakes on here, remember to think about them as proof that if you really want to, you can get there! That is what I think of. I stopped putting myself down, and am trying to use them as something to strive for, and to keep me going.
So what I want to say is, dont give up!!! And I am so glad you are feeling better.
