I have a potentional order comming up and i need help were to get started with the pricing for this one. It would be a Cupcake tower, 300 cupcakes, all chocolate, with simple design. What would you charge? Is there a rule of thumb to follow for pricing per cupcake? Please help!!
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the advice trent, anyone else have an opinion or some something similar and can give me some hints?
I DEFINITELY wouldn't go under $1 per cupcake and would actually suggest more like $1.25-1.50 per cupcake...possibly more depending on on what the nice bakeries in your area charge. I started out this year with selling mine for $1 each and am rethinking that--- should be more! There's so much time involved! If you're going to be investing that much time in making 300, you don't want to come out of it feeling like it wasn't worth the $$!!
I hate to compare prices with the big boxes, because we usually lose when we do that, but I did notice that 12 cupcakes was like $16 at one of them, so I wouldn't go less than $1 or $1.50 each, and I have heard some say they wouldn't go less than their per serving price for cakes. I have never sold cupcakes, so I haven't come across this one yet.
I charge $2.25 a cupcake! You have to factor in your time and effort so don't sell yourself short.
I just posted for someone else for a wedding cake. Please check it out. Cupcakes usually are more work involve. I make mini cakes, which is practicly the same thing and charge 5.00. You should not go below 3.00 also factor in your assembly and delivery charge. Sprinkles Cupcakes charges $3.25
