I know we all enjoy decorating cakes but do you also enjoy eating frosting as well? Personally I don't always eat frosting. icon_wink.gif

I wish I didn't enjoy eating it! i can just eat it up with a spoon. I think I've gained eight pounds over the past year from cleaning up after i make cakes.

I was just sitting here thinking that I've gained about 5lbs from eating frosting when I came across this post! I LOVE frosting. I, too, can just eat it with a spoon. I can't keep any made up or it'll be gone before I make the next cake. Yum yum!!!

I don't really like Buttercream icing. I won't even touch the Wilton Buttercream (Just finished my classes), whenever I get it on my fingers I find the nearest napkin.

Then I made buttercream with half butter/half shortening. mmmmmmm. I don't make that very often because it doesn't generally make it to the cake. icon_surprised.gif

I like to have cake with my frosting but my eldest daughter will call sometimes when I am decorating a cake and when she finds that out she always wants to know if I'll have leftovers.....she loves to just eat the icing!!

i never liked powdered sugar frosting (too sweet for me) but when i was pregnant with my 2 year old i would lick it of my cake like that was the best thing(probably it was at that time).I am so glad that craving is gone
I love italian buttercream though.

No... I for some reason do not like to eat the cake or the frosting when I make them. My husband on the other hand every time i make a cake he gets the left over frosting and cake... He is the one who has put on the weight

I used to like the taste, but I have made so many cakes that I am soooooooooo sick of it. I never eat my cakes at birthday parties, but everyone else goes on and on about how good they are! I guess if they spent a week in my house, then they would understand!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

I hate the frosting too especially after I went to a store to buy some extra special cake goodies and the owners complained of two teeth that had to be removed and the pain she has from walking around from all the excess weight.

I'm diabetic too, but I find that baking and decorating cakes kinds of turns me off of eating them. If I have a new icing I'm thrying, then I'll give a taste (and let my husband tell me what he thinks).

I really liked my frosting until I looked at the back of a wilton merangue powder canister. I swear it says that the Wilton buttercream frosting is 600 calories per tablespoon!!! I stopped eating it so much after that. I can't stand the smell of marshmallows or powdered surgar any more either!! Too much MMF!

I don't like frosting but I love the cakes. They are so moist I could eat a whole cake by myself without frosting. The only time I taste it is to make sure it taste the way I want it, plus I usually have a houseful of kids and my son and my daughters boyfriend have volunteered to be my taste testers for me. Isn't that sooo sweet of them heheh thumbs_up.gif

Hey, you are really lucky to have those volunteers, I'm forced to try the icing myself, usually as I am applying it to a cake! I don't really like very much icing, and even wind up scraping a lot of it off a decorated cake, even my own!

I guess I've never been a "taste as I go" cook, if I do something wrong, it will generally be a surprise to me at the same time my diners get the bad news! LOL I do manage to taste my cakes before I decorate them!

hey vee have you tried the sour cream pound cake yet? Its been doing nothing but raining here for the past week, so today after I got home from classes I started baking. Made a few mini sour cream pound cakes and something I tried I made a vanilla cake and instead of vanilla I added tangereen flavoring. It turned out pretty good. Also a choc cream pie and a choc cake. I tried that new dream whip frosting and its great, it smooths out sooooo easy, doesn't taste bad either. Then I got a call for a winnie the pooh baby shower cake. I'm stuck. No ideas, HELPP

Hello pejmo3, I'm sorry to say that the baking bug hasn't bitten me for a while, so I haven't tried the recipe yet, in fact it is sitting here beside me hopefully! I didn't have the yellow cake mix, but got it yesterday, so now I have no excuse. Maybe today will be the day I'll get it done! My idea for a Father's Day cake will probably work well with this recipe!

If I weren't so far away I'd be glad to come help you with all those great baked goods!

The BCT tutotial is of Pooh, and there are several cakes in the gallery I think, might check those out. Also, I always fall back on a Google Image search when I'm clueless for ideas. Janice

thanks, I just did a regular pooh cake. It turned out nice I have to submit the picture. I take pictures of all the cakes I do. I am going to try my hand at making a golf theme cake for a friend of mine for fathers day. I also have a red velvet one due also. But let me know how you like the pound cake when you get to it. Where do you live any way/ if you don't mind me asking? I really enjoy chatting with other bakers I don't feel so alone. No one wants to help with the baking but when it comes to the eating part I get more then enough people wanting to try. go figure. Well till next time. Have a good week end
