I have a cross cake cooking in the oven now for tomorrow. First off I realized it may not be big enough for the party tomorrow now i just went to check in and the entire middle cracked open. What am I supposed to do. The whole middle is split open and looks like the grand canyon! help why did this happen, it is a WASC cake.

This has happen to me. Fortunately there was a hump where it split and I just leveled it ( cut it off). Depending on how many servings you need, you may want to make a 11 x 15 cake and sit the cross cake on top.
