Hi everyone,
I'm making the royal icing for cookies for the first time and I know it calls for both merengue powder and cream of tartar. My grocery store didn't have cream of tartar (I do have the merengue powder though). Is there a substitute for the cream of tartar or will it totally ruin the recipe without it?

Thanks!

Here's what I found, that may be of help to you. It was hard to find in my grocery store, in the middle of all the spices, and the smallest bottle.
