here is a recipe for rolling fondant without marshmallows:

1 Tablespoon gelatin powder
1/4 cup water

1/2 cup clear corn syrup
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons shortening
2 lbs powdered sugar-sift if lumpy

Place gelatin and water over low heat to melt the gelatin.
Combine the remaining ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer
Add the melted gelatin to the mixer and beat on low until blended.
Remove the dough, wrap in heavy plastic and refrigerate for a while to firm the dough. Best if rolled to 1/4 inch thickness.
