Just read this in the 6-28 Chicago Sun-Times:

(condensed)

Taste will be the battleground for the best of cakes when the FN Challenge gets under way. Competition will be stiff among area bakers Lori Parrett of Cakewalk Chicago, Orlando Serrano from Roeser's Bakery and Diane Ahrens from Piece-a-Cake-Bakery.com.

Marc Summers from the FN will host the two-day event.

The winner will join contenders from the Indianapolis and Detroit markets in a cake-baking competition to be aired on the FN in 2007.

It's this weekend! July 1 & 2. Here's the link: http://www.fnchallenge.com/. I wish I'd known about it, I would have planned a trip to visit my family in Chicago for this weekend. (I already "visited" my mother there for the Wilton Tent Sale!!)

LOL-ME TOO!
Sometimes I wish my hubby were a cookie. Then when he ticked me off I could just bite off his head.

Oh darn it, I would have gone too! I'm in Indy and my parents are in NW Indiana so we could have gone if I'd planned on it. We've got too much stuff going on this weekend to change plans. I've never been to the taste of Chicago which is pretty sad considering I grew up only an hour away.

Oh, that is too sad. The "Taste," as I grew up calling it, is one of life's great pleasures. Of course, it's also incredibly crowded, expensive, and usually hot and humid. (That's what I tell myself every year I don't go.) There's going to be a Fod Network challenge in Detroit in September, I think, maybe you could both make it to that one? Hey, maybe I can, too . . . I sense a road trip coming up . . .

How do you find out when and where these competitions are held? I only see them after they are over on FN.

Oh man! If I had known about it a week or two ago I could have planed, but we have some nephews we are watching this weekend.... Oh well maybe next time
