Does anyone have a great tasting, moist almond cake recipe? I don't see any almond cake recipes on this site.
I like Toba Garrett's Almond-Paste Cake. Though, it is really firm. I don't know if other people would consider it "moist" I know it's not dry.
There is one here called White Almond Sourcream Cake. I love it! I think it moist(and the two groups I've made it for do as well) but its heavy. Dense, I guess. You know how most people like the airy fluffiness of a cake mix? Well this will not be for them.

leta, did you use the store bought almond paste in a tube or in a can, or homemade? There is a big difference and the kind in a tube, the most common grocery store kind, is not recommended which is why I ask.
Actually, my friend gave me a couple cans at an earlier time when she wanted me to make some marzipan wedding decs for her. At the time, I didn't realize that the almond paste was not the same as marzipan.....duh. I used the marzipan tubes for the decorations, but I used the canned for the cake. I don't know where my friend got it. I can sure ask her. She may have got it at the Hen House Grocery store, but I know she is a food snob-ha ha- and gets stuff from Dean and DeLuca quite often. The canned almond paste was perfect for the cake, and it only took about half a can.
Oh the canned almond paste is perfect; it is the recommended commercial buy. The tube stuff should be avoided. She probably did get it at Dean and Dulca, lol, because it is hard to find sometimes and these specialty stores usually have it.
You can also make it yourself. Thanks for the reply.
