Quick question: Can I replace the water in a cake mix with whole milk without causing baking problems? TIA, Cass
It's not recommended for chocolate (although many do) becuase it tends to add a bitter taste to the chocolate. Some can detect it, others can't.
Yep, no problem. Cake Mix is a pretty durable industrial product.
Thank you guys. When you don't know, you just don't know. I was just thinking that milk would make the cake taste better.
Many things could make it taste better...dont be afraid to experiment!
I do it all the time with the coffee syrups....trying different flavors on different cakes....its actually pretty fun to see how its gonna turn out!
Just an idea.... I
I like using soft drink instead of water too. Try Sprite in Lemon cake mix.
For those of you who use different liquids - do you use this in place of the water....or is it a 50/50 combination?
I usually use the other liquid in place of the water. So if it calls of 1 cup of water I use 1 cup of milk or soda or juice, ect. instead.
Thanks! I can't wait to try this...I have not tried doctoring cake mixes yet but if I can make a cake from scratch I would think I could do this. I just bought the Cake Mix Doctor and the Cake Mix Doctor for Chocolate too - I have to make time to try something this week...Wish me luck!!
