The wedding cake I made last week collapsed on the way to the venue icon_cry.gif . fortunately i was delivering friday evening for a saturday wedding.

Had to drive home again (1/2 hour and re do the icing - the cake was ok - 4 hours - then deliver at 8.00 am saturday morning).

I hardly slept all Friday night - it has taken till now before i was able to write it here.

I have not heard anything from the bride, so I assume the cake was ok.

I guess your cake bounceyed of the board!
Sorry I couldn't resist. It happened to me a couple
of weeks ago with a bar mitz cake. On delivery,
the cake went splatttt! Had all the tools and did
a repair on site. Thank god I'm always hours
early so in case it happens. AND IT DID!
sorry again.

Ooohhhh....I feel your pain. How awful for you. What caused it to collapse? Did you have plenty of dowels?

I am so sorry to hear about your cake falling!!

Can you describe what went wrong so someone can help with how it could have been prevented?

I think many of us worry about this happening.

Again, I am so sorry, but it sounds like you pulled it out like a pro.

It was covered in sugarpaste, I had pieced it - a circle on the top and a piece around the edge to get a straight edge, rather than just one whole piece over the top. IYSWIM Unfortunately this wasn't strong enough to hold it. So I had to remake with in the normal way , it had a more rounded edge but at least it was standing! Never again

The cake before it collapsed is the pink and white one with peonies in my photos. I didn't take a picture of the repair job - i was too p*&&^d off.

ps yes there were plenty of dowels and the top 2 tiers were ok thankfully
