Ok Ladies, How Much Are We Charging For Stuffed Strawberries

I did mine in a super big hurry. I didn't even take a pic. I carved out a v on the side and stuffed it with a cheap cheesecake mix. Cooled and then dipped in white chocolate.
They were soooo yummy.
Here is what I do to figure my price.
Price per berry? Say .27
Total price of stuffing divided by the number of berries? Say .08
Add them together=.35 food costs for each berry.
Divide the total costs by your target food cost. Mine is 30% so I would divide .35 by .30 .35/.30 = 1.166666
I would charge at least $1.25 per berry, and that is if you just put them on a plate and sell them as is. If you involve any packaging, you have to charge for that.
Does that help?
I think more. Just a choc dipped strawberry goes for more than that, on the net they are around $50 or $60 for 12. Stuffing them costs more. I would charge closer to $2 or $3. I know we all have to take into consideration what our individual locations are and how much folks are willing to pay.
Keep in mind that this is a seasonal product, the cost of ingredients is high and it is labor intensive.
they DO sound good! Where do you cut the v at on the berry? Has anyone used the cheesecake filling that comes out of a tub?
these sound so good, can someone send me some?!
ok i think it'll try them after i go strawberry picking, but that won't be til mid-late June or so. I'm looking for suggestions other than cheesecake - i don't like CC.
thanks!

I agree with Lenette, if you look at the cost of covered berries online they charge $3-7 per fruit. YES per Fruit, then depending on the place you have to pay for delivery which is not cheap either - overnight and all.
So $2 to $3 dollars is very reasonable to start out. Dont set your price in stone, once these little items become popular they will be flying off the shelf and will need a cost increase. Not to mention if the cost of berries go up because of the cost of gas.
Good Luck!
Are there any pics of these stuffed strawberries? I've never heard of them. Sounds very interesting and tasty.
They do sound really good. I have never tried to stuff one, but I'm going to try now. So do you cut the berry in half then stuff it or how does that work?????
One of the Foodnetwork shows (the one with Paula Deen's sons) visited a shop where they make 'stuffed' strawberries. The berries were unusually lage, she cut away part of the end of the berry (not the stem end) and then stuffed and formed a handful of deliciousness over the end of the berry. It enlarges the size and extends the shape of the berry. In a way, it really isn't stuffed. Now the new shaped, larger berry is chilled, then partially dipped in chocolate (white, dark milk, whatever), and placed in a paper holder. Then, she also added sprinkles of appropriate garnishes and drizzles of other colored chocolate. Voila' stuffed berry
The cheesecake was whole cheesecake stirred up with the crust mixed in.
Anything you can shape into something that will hold would work. Most of the items in cakeballs would probably be great. Small berries would still work, just with smaller 'stuffing'

I charge $11.95 per half dozen (big strawberries).
I always figure prices by ingredients + labor (what I charge per hour). This way I am never working for pennies.
Here's one website selling coated (not dipped) stuffed strawberries for $9.00 each, shipping is $35.00.
Hurry there are only 30 left:

Edited to add - here is a chef claiming a patent on stuffing strawberries:

(Just noticed it's the same name as the website above. Also patent gives step-by-step photos of how to stuff and coat the strawberries.)

I just made some Covered Strawberries earlier. I had some left over Ganache and I found these very large beautiful strawberries, so of course I had to dip them! How much do you guys charge for the strawberries un-stuffed?
