I have never heard of them. How do you make them and where are they served? Is there a special receipe for them and if so can someone share?

There are so any ways to vary this recipe, just about anything that sounds good to you.

I believe what you are thinking of is petit fours, or perhaps cake balls. What I was given to use is this site... and the results seem to be great (my neighbor made some)

though I am sure there is something on here as well.

Do you mean "cake balls"? If so, there are several threads on the various "recipes" for using left-over cake scraps to make truffle-like balls of cake crumbs, held together with some cream and liquor with some chopped nuts, chocolate, or fruit thrown in, then dipped in melted chocolate and (optionally) coated in cocoa powder.

There is some dissent about whether they're a delicious way to use your cake scraps (I'm in this camp) or they taste like partially chewed and spit out cake. icon_biggrin.gif

Just search the forums on "cake balls" and you'll get lots of ideas.
