How Do I Attach Silk/satin Ribbon To Fondant For Border's ?

OH HELP ME,,,,,,,,,, i have to do a cake in fondant and they want ribbon { silk/satin} for the borders, how do i stick it to the fondant? my email is [email protected] icon_eek.gif HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't stress it's easy.I use clear piping gel and it works great.pipe it on the ribbon first then guide the ribbon around the cake with your fingers etc,works for me anyway.good luck and post when your finished icon_biggrin.gif

I have just had a very experienced cake decorator show me how to do this properly.

You need to wet the ribbon....yes, that's right, wet it, just with cold tap water, then run it between two fingers to get any excess water off.

Wrap it around the cake however you want it, and then secure the ends with a pin, when it's dry, you can remove the pin and it will stay put.

I did this on a cake recently and it worked great.

thanks for the info I'll have to try it this way,I had only done it once and was winging it
