I am also from a part of Pennsylvania that says "younz guys". It drives ppl not from around here nuts! I also say "pop" instead of soda. My best friend who joined the Navy after high school and her husband laugh everytime they hear me say those words. Oh, and something else he thought was funny...I say "sweeper" instead of vaccuum. I do say fondant though!!! 
My dad's side of the family is from PA and their lingo drives me absolutely batty!!!!

This is so funny....what I can't stand is when I call someone and get their answering machine and instead of saying, "Hi you've reached so and so etc" they say "You have reached 907-336-5577". I know the stinking number I just dialed, I want to know who I've called!!! Or better yet, when they say, "We're NOT home right now" HELLO....thiefs scout for this all the time. My sister has both of those phrases on her machine.

I can't stand it when I call a business and they don't say their name then I do ask "who is this?"

If you speak Spanish, here is a good one for you... I told you all I'm Mexican-American; I once had a boss from Puerto Rico and we'd laugh at each other all the time. She told me tacos were high heels. One time she said she wanted to go home a take a "mojoncito". 
I guess I really looked like those emoticons because she looked 
and waved her hand like, "no no". She explained to me it meant take a shower! while I was thinking take a s#*%! I had been thinking, "Too much INformation!!" 
Another one that bugs me:
Nevada is not pronounced Ne-VAH-da. The first "a" is pronounced the same way as the "a" in apple.
OMIGOSH....I really have to agree with you on this one. It drives me bonkers when ppl say it like its an short 'o'. Nevoda...grrr

People who don't know how to answer the phone drive me up the wall also. The one that gets me is when they ask "where are you?" Hello, where did you call. It also drives me insane when someone standing in front of me (who is not blind) asks me What are you doing? I always say, painting unless I am actually painting then I say dancing. Oh yeah and how about when you come in from somewhere and they ask if you are back already. I always just say, no I am an illusion. Last but not least, Lynda- Bob I hate when people say share instead of chair. If they can say chancla or chamba, good gravey they should be able to say chair. I'm hispanic and I can't tell you how many of my family and in-laws do this. (I know my spelling is driving somebody nuts!!!)

Along the lines of "Bal'more", I had an article that was about (Indiana) Hoosier-isms (for those who don't know, Indiana is known as the Hoosier State).
The great French explorer, Lafayette, pronounced his name in 3 syllables, Lah-Fay-Et, but a true Hoosier only uses 2 to pronouce the name of the city ... "La-fyet". In California, they may call their city car-MEL, but here in Hoosierville, it's plain 'ole "CAR-mull".
I didn't realize until my daughter came home from Korea (army) that "big 'ole" was a Hoosier word. I told her I had a "big 'ole" pot of chicken-n-dumplin's for dinner (yes, there is no "g" at the end of "dumplin's" or you're not making 'em right!) and she said, "Big 'Ole! I can tell I'm home now!"
And a standing joke in Indiana: "South Bend is up north, North Vernon is down south, and French Lick ain't nuthin' like you think it is!"
Ok, here is one: My mom says, "I'm going to the Walmarts (with an "S"). Ahhhh!! She also says "Sun-dee" for "Sunday" (as well as all the other days of the week). It's her southeastern Ohio roots, I suppose.....she grew up in the foot hills of the Appalacians, close to (you got it...PA and West Va!!) My cousins all said "yins" and "warsh". It is an absolutely adorable little dialect, but I'm not partial.
This is a cute thread.....I hear "Fondue" all the time for fondant.
My favorite is when Oprah used the word "Va-jay-jay" to describe a region of her body that was hurting her (anyone else see that episode??)

Okay, let's see indydebi: In Kentucky we use our "blinkers" and turn right or left. In Indianapolis you use your turn signals and turn N,S, E, or W! LOL When both my sons were at Indiana Bible College I was FOREVER trying to decifer (sp?) directions! LOL

My MIL drives me nuts with two things she says... "Birfday" for "Birthday" and "Valentimes" for "Valentines".
Hey Dolfin! Does your family make up words for things? My family does and then when I met my best friend, we'd have discussions over whose made-up words sounded better! 
In my family, we use the word "charla" for female private part (it's a long story ). When I was in high school and I heard the word charlar (to chat) I almost fell out of my chair, laughing so hard my teacher thought I was coughing or choking. She let me go get some water and asked if I was ok I didn't bother getting myself into trouble explaining that one
My BIL can't stand the whole scratch/itch thing either. I never thought about it before he came along. After that I always told him I had a really bad scratch I had to itch just to drive him nuts.
One of mine is when DH calls barbed wire "bob wire". He's from Texas for heaven's sake. He should know what it's called!
My grandfather also hated when people asked him who it was when they called him. One time I made that mistake because when he answered the phone, it didn't sound like him. He responded, "Well, seeing as how you're the one calling me, who are you?"

omg we have some too! When my oldest was a pre-teen, she wanted to call her dad an idiot, but she tried to spell it: "You are an I....D....O.....T!"
So now when someone does something stupid, we call them an EYE-DOT! (and it usually comes out as "you are a a 'big 'ole' eye-dot!")

I also go batty when people refer to their "blinker" instead of a "turn signal". (I bet it's a regional thing because no one around here calls it a "blinker" but it seems like I hear it in all the shows out of California.) If you ever get a ticket for failing to use these, I'm sure it's a "turn signal violation" not a "blinker violation".
And is this a regional thing, too? Another one that I never hear people use the term around here, but it's used in the movies and on TV shows ..... The little machine that automatically changes the channel on your TV is a "remote" or "remote control" .... not a "clicker". aaaauuuggghhhh!!

Sorry indydebi...we hear in michigan call it a "blinker." We arent too far from indy either! I am sure it will invade sometime or another..watch out!
