Hi! I just came across the frosting recipe. I had never heard of adding coffee creamer and I think its a great idea b/c there are so many flavors out there that you can really be imaginative. I have only used the Wilton BC (1/2 Crisco 1/2 butter) recipe.

Has anyone tried it? I saw it got 4 stars. Maybe the person that rated it can give me some tips...how this one compares as far as texture, making flowers and borders, etc? Also, is this sweeter since the coffee creamer has sugar in it?
Just wondering...I'm ready to try something new and I think your recipe sounds great!

I appreciate anyone's help.

You can flavor buttercream with just about anything, lol. Someone posted a buttercream recipe using the creamer with vanilla and butter extract that is suppose to mimic Pillsbury frosting in a can.

I have a recipe that uses kool-aid from the packets in buttercream, in particular lime flavored to get a key lime buttercream for key lime cake, but you can use any of the flavors.

Thank you Rodneyck. I am not much into experimenting. I guess I'm afraid it would change the texture of the frosting.

Thanks for the ideas!

I've wondered about the powdered Coffee Mate and how well it would blend in ... I was thinking it might leave a gritty to the texture to the icing.

I don't know about this recipe..

But There is a post by sharon - sugarshack where she says she disolves the coffee creamer in hot water first.

So maybe if you disolved it in the water it calls for first and then use it there won't be a gritty issue. I am making a cake next week and plan on trying this out.
