Oh, lordy. After a great last cake I decided to make two very small no stress, no pressure cakes for my chiropractor/family friend. I won't go into what I had planned... but in the finishing stages I got a killer headache, a fellow family member started bothering me CONSTANTLY during the process, and I basically messed it up beyond all reason. Then yet another family member was given permission to have a bit of my whipped cream icing for the second mini cake, and I didn't have enough left. My fault for letting him when I had just barely enough for the cake to start with. I actually ended up slathering some "make your own almond bark" candy melt stuff on some wax paper and wrapping it around the cake. It looks sort of... erm. Post-modern. My second cake was scrapped entirely and now I just have one tiny 4-inch round covered in pink/brown marble-like fondant with no ideas on how to make it look... not awful. Any ideas? I can do it tomorrow morning but I only have about 2 hours of time and a small batch of gumpaste... any suggestions would be helpful.

I already mentioned I'd be bringing some little cakes and I feel mortified at the idea of showing them these as a representation of what I can do! Even if it's "no-pressure" I feel like I'm guaranteeing they'll never want a cake from me. How on earth did my no stress cakes end up making me so miserable?!

Is there anyway that you could do it for another day??? Do you have the ingredients to make them some cupcakes instead. I like making cupcakes for people to sample.

If you end up taking the little cake...you could always laugh and say you had LOTS of distractions and a very busy weekend. I am sure they will understand. I think they will appreciate your nice gesture of making it in the first place. icon_smile.gif
