My nephew REALLY wants me to make him a Shaak Ti cake (I'll post a picture in a minute). Shaak Ti is Jedi Knight from Star Wars and he really REALLY wants her face to be his cake. SO, look at a picture of her and give me your best ideas, because I am freaking out! ROFLOL I'm not sure I can pull it off, but I'm willing to give it a try for him!

Thank you so much for helping me! I don't want to let him down. THANKS!!!

Are you able to make edible images--that would be the easiest. If not, then a FBCT would work, but I would try find more of a close up of her face to use.

Does he want just the red/white face or the hair/horn whatever stuff too? It should be pretty easy to do the face out of FBCT (super easy if you've never done one!), then pipe the hair stuff around it.

Good luck!!! icon_lol.gifthumbs_up.gificon_wink.gif

The only thing I think of is a FBT or an edible image. If he just wants the face you may be able to do a FBT. You can try and see how that come out.

You could do a frozen buttercream transfer or a chocolate transfer. I made chocolate transfers for the groom's cake I did recently (in pics) and loved the results. I think you can also use royal icing to make a transfer image.

Oh I hadn't even thought about a FBCT! That would be much easier! I will probably just do that and pipe on the horns/hair/whatever it is. I swear, just looking at the characters online from that movie is giving me the creeps! LOL

What you may even like better, since it's an actual face, is the FBCT without the black outlines (cartooney looking). I did a Clemson paw the other day without outlining. When I put it on my cupcake cake, I REALLY didn't like it at all. So, I put my icing in my bag and piped it in, actually made it 3-d. It was REALLY cool! Since it's not that detailed, you could probably get away with doing that, even build up the nose and cheek areas!

Here's a couple of pics from the "Clone Wars" cartoon that would probably be easier to FBCT. HTH!

(Google Shaak Ti+Clone Wars and then Images if you want to see more)

I think it would be cool to do as a 3-D cake and could be done using Lisa's Spiderman cake instructions found here:

http://frostingfun.blogspot.com/

You could use waffle cones on top of the head for the top of the headdress and cover and sculpt in either fondant or buttercream, for the sides you could sculpt from icing or fondant or add additional styrofoam.
Hope this helps, looking forward to seeing the final cake !!!

Well... I was thinking you could do a sheet cake and on top of that on the middle have an oval (eggshaped) cake for the face. Then use frosting to "paint" her face. Then you could use MMF to sculpt the horns.

I was thinking about your cake and if you have access to a 3D cuddly Bear pan, I think it would work great for this cake !!!

To do a Shaak Ti Cake you could use the 3D Cuddly Bear pan and accent the sides for the head dress and place a waffle cone on top of the ears and and continue the headdress up and angle slightly and cover with buttercream or fondant. The face could be centered in and with a little sculpting of the nose area. The shoulders would be the body of the bear or if you want it more detailed you could add a few cake pieces to round out the shoulders.

Pm me if you want to see pictures of what I am trying to explain !!!

This is making me want to try this cake myself unfortunately I have no one into Star Wars needing a cake right now.

Thanks so much for your advice everyone! I'm going to get started on it today. Cutting it kind of close but at least it's just for my nephew and not a paying customer (as if I have those. LOL). I'm thinking this will just have to be a smaller scale of what he wants because we had some family stuff come up today that couldn't be pushed off to a later date. oh well. Thanks so much and I'll be sure to post a picture when I'm done! Wish me luck!!!! icon_biggrin.gif
