HI Everyone! Need some serious help...

I made the graduation cap with the wonder mold and the cardboard covered in fondant using Wilton fondant.

When I went to cover the top cardboard with fondant and flipped it over to cover the underside the edges all cracked when I tried to fold them over!

Anything I can do to prevent this from happening again next time?

Thanks!

Maybe the fondant was too dry. I just did a graduation cake with a wrapped cardboard top too. I use crisco when rolling out the MMF (per advice on this site) - not sugar or cornstarch which seem to dry it out. It stays a little more pliable and easier to work with.

I've only worked with MMF, but I would assume the same techniques could apply to Wilton fondant...maybe you could try popping it in the microwave for a few seconds (10 or so) to soften it up before you cover the board - just knead it until it's nice and pliable, and then cover the board. Don't get it too hot, though, or it will probably stretch too thin when you flip it over (not to mention, it will be way too hot to handle!). That's my 2 cents.

This is great!! Thanks so much! I know I was using corn starch. I will try it again tonight with the Crisco and microwave ideas!!
