I have to make a groom's cake for July 1. I don't know where to begin to look for a good cake recipe. I made a cake last month for my mom's 80 and everyone raved about it. But it was my first time making one in such detail and size. It was a delicious canolli filled cake.

Also, my niece says her fiance loves baseball and would like me to incorporate that into the cake somehow. My other sister says traditional grooms cakes are chocolate with choc. frosting and choc. dipped strawberries on it.

Any suggestions and cake, frosting, how to incorporate a baseball? I would like to do a choc. cake seeing that there cake will be white.

You might want to ask the groom what he would like and then go from their.

I don't think there is a traditional grooms cake. I've seen all kinds of cakes for grooms cakes. I would just do something baseball. Maybe a jersey of his favorite team, or a baseball diamond with a 3-D baseball sitting on top. Or just a diamond with fondant runners and fielders. Please post a picture, I'd love to see what you came up with in the end!
