OK, so I have this envisioned in my mind, but I can't quite get the bride to see the same thing I am so I told her I would try and find a pic. It would be this cake only with some blown sugar bubbles here and there to give it a more airy look..I think her cake will look grounded with the boxy chocolate cake, and the blown sugar bubbles would give it that magical airy look (her reception hall will have rough wood beams with toile and white lights wrapped around it, kinda that contrast of rough and whispy) I think the blown sugar bubbles would tie the cake into the theme of the reception hall perfectly....soooooooo, does anyone know of a picture like this...only with sugar bubbles added in? I can't seem to find any...oh how I wish I could print out the images in my mind!!!! icon_cry.gif

How about making a very small miniature cake with what you are talking about? That would give her the full effect!

Just thought I'd put that idea out there!

Boy, that'd be a dangerous thing, if you could print out the things in your mind. Cringing....... I'm no help about the cake question, just wanted to comment.

I am in agreement with step0nmi make a small version of the cake you want to show her. She may love the idea after all.

Ooooooo, good point! Could be scary! As far as the sample cake, I don't know how to do sugar bubbles, I would need to order them and they are 45 dollars for 35 of them and that doesn't include shipping. I am not sure I am willing to go that far...though it is a great idea. If I had the equipment and a babysitter I would have a go at it until I got it right and then show her...no luck though. Anyone else have pics...it has to be super similar to the cake in my initial post. I think my bride has dificulties with imagination...ya know??

Martha Stewart did a sugar bubble wedding cake one of her Wedding issues in 1998. There's a small picture on her website:

Where can you order sugar bubbles from?
Wish I could help on the other question. Can you print out that picture and just draw in some bubbles to kind of give the effect?

You could do like eriksmom said and then instead of drawing them on, print pictures of the sugar bubbles and glue them onto the pic where you would be placing them=) Jen

Moydear77, Those are beautiful cakes! Thank you everyone for your help. I believe I am going to have to do a mock up and just use christmas balls to illustrate. I have shown her the georgous tiered white and pink one by moydear77 but she still just can't vision it...she has a hard time relating the square cake versus the round cake. You all are so fantastic!. Oh and for anyone who wanted to know where to buy the bubbles I am getting them from Jeff. He is on CC too...I just can't remember his screen name. Here is his web address..

Thanks again you guys!

Carrielynnfields,

I haven't been on CC for a little while but I'm still poking around. Busy season for the Club and teaching the blown and pulled sugar and trying to lose 50 lbs... You can all get the Sugar Jewels and Sugar Bubbles thru the site and they are shipping really well. For some reason though any country other than the U.S. is getting them really fast. We jsut need lots of lead time for the orders to ensure you get them in time.

I want to see more pictures of what you are all using the products for! post post post!

If any one has any questions about blown and pulled sugar there is a forum on here for it that I check when I have time or e-mail me directly thru the site.

Thank you! You truly rock! I can't wait to make a cake with your products. Just need someone to pay for them first. I have heard nothing but good things about your stuff and how well it ships. Thanks again!

That is exactly how I feel! Aren't they just the most awesome thing? And have you seen the Gems that Jeff sells. They would make the coolest cake!

There is a cowboy hat tutorial on here using the jewels, and a Tiara example as well.

The best way to attach the bubbles to the fondant covered cake is with royal icing or by using melted sugar to pile them together and then stacking them on to buttercream. If you want it to look like they are floating up the cake then you can attach a piece of medium gauge florists wire to the bubble with melted sugar and then stick the wire into the cake.
