I have read several times that people cut cookies out free hand. How do you do this? do you find a drawing and create your own shape? How and with what do you cute the cookie dough? an exacto knife?

Thanks,
Kat

Hey Kat--

I use cardboard or cardstock to draw my pattern on--it may be freehand or copied from a pattern. I use a very sharp paring knife to cut my cookies and make sure the dough is cold.

Ditto. I do the same. I use cardstock and a small sharp paring knife.

It's just a small, sharp knife with a point (not rounded like a dinner knife). It also has a smooth blade, without any serrated edges. Any knife like that should be fine.

Dollar store paring knives are good because they are more flimsy. thumbs_up.gif

gotta submit my medieval cookies to the gallery. ( I used a cardstock pattern for my shield, an easy cut-out though)
