Just wondering if there is such a thing as German Butter Cream- I've searched online and haven't been able to find it - someone sent me a pic of a cake that they said was iced with German Butter Cream- it looks like Italian Butter Cream(same texture/sheen) So just wanted to know if anyone knew what it was!
thanks
Yes, foodnetwork did a show on disney cakes and the chef was using a german buttercream. It was made with a pastry cream base, where you have to cook the eggs, sugar, etc together. Let me see if I can find it.

I found something on the diy network website. I just googled German Buttercream. Hope it's helpful!
Okay that sounds yummy. I wonder if my german dad would actually eat that frosting without complaining!?
I think that they are calling it french buttercream or Mouselline buttercream. Here is a link for the mouselline buttercream http://baking911.com/recipes/cakes/btrcrm_mousseline.htm
and here is a link to a discussion on german buttercream
