I want to make cookies using a cookie cutter and decorated with royal icing outline and filling on top. I want to know if it's OK to freeze them decorated or undecorated? I want to save as much time as I can making them earlier and freezing. Thanks for your help!

I freeze my cookies all the time, but have never frozen any with royal icing on them. I alway wrap them in saran wrap and them put them in a freezer ziplock bag......when I bring them out later and bring them to room temperature, everyone thinks they have been baked that day.

I freeze my royal iced sugar cookies all the time. I usually allow them to dry, place them in a sheet cake box, top with the lid and freeze, I haven't had a problem yet with them, and it is nice to have them done and put up for the event. My dh and dc love to eat them frozen anyway! Blessings, Shawn <><

I freeze my cookies after icing with Royal Icing. I usually frost them, let them dry and then freeze them on an uncovered cookie sheet. Once frozen, I wrap them in plastic wrap and box them. Freezing them first keeps any outside moisture from accumulating on the plastic wrap while they are being frozen. It's somewhat similar to freezing fresh fruit, where you put it on the baking sheet, freeze it and then package it.
