Question About Per Inch Charge For Cookies...

Ok this may be very silly but I have to ask because I have someone interested in buying cookies from me.
When you say $1 per inch are you just counting the widest part or are you figuring per square inch (or as close to as possible) of the cookie? And if it is per square inch then what would you charge for a cookie shaped in a cross for instance?
The 1 in. is referring to the length.
You should charge more depending how much you decorate them. You also should consider bagging and ribbion.
For the cross, I would measure the length and use that.
Good Luck!
I'm curious about this too... I was wondering how I would charge for, say, umbrella cookies - it doesn't seem right to charge the same for a 5" umbrella as I would a 5" square (as an example)
Thanks Manatee.
Edencakes - that's exactly what I was thinking about the cross cookies. The umbrella is an even better example though since there's so much less cookie to it!
So I'll try to explain my thinking...
So the top of the umbrella is pretty good sizes. That top makes up for the bottom (which isn't a lot of cookie). Think of the proportion rather than the shape. Another thing...remember your still rolling, baking, icing and decorating these cookies. The work is still the same.
You could also charge maybe 50 cents less for the odd shapes, personally I wouldn't, but it's completely up to you.
I base my prices on the square inch also but that is a valid point about cookies that are say only half like the cross and umbrella.I figure packaging and ribbon into it also.I usually charge about $3.00-$4.00 a cookie depending on the detail.
