Last night, for my neighbors sons second birthday, I made two 1/4 sheet cakes (1/2 sheet is too big for my oven) and left them on the washer to cool. I announced to everyone NOT to go near the washer or else, and my dear husband reitterated it to the three kids. The kids, knowing I was serious, stayed away from the washer, but the hubby? Well, he went to look out of the window and put his hand on the top of the washer, thinking he didn't touch the cake. Did I say he THOUGHT he didn't touch it? Well, this morning, I went to get the cakes to start decorating, lifted up the towel that was covering the PERFECT 9 x 13's, and to my shock half of one of the cakes was smashed to smithereens!!! :cry I was ready to blame one of the kids, but the hubby admitted that he did it and didn't want to tell me because he knew I wouldn't sleep, that I would bake another cake (after schlepping to the store for more eggs).

After crying for about 5 minutes, I got my daughter and we went to the store for more eggs, which turned out to be lucky because there was a big sale on cake mixes and eggs (10 dozen for $10.00). Anyway, the cake is now cooling, the BCT is in the freezer, and I'm about ready to start mixing my icing. Luckily for him the party isn't until late this afternoon, but I'm not done making him feel guilty yet! icon_twisted.gif

My new cake turned out to be just as good as the old cake (tried the flower nail trick I read about on another post), got them both torted and filled, but by the time I got ready to ice them it was extremely hot and the icing was not cooperating with me, not even the BCT worked! It looked good, but didn't transfer, so I ended up tracing my design on waxed paper and transfering the old fashioned way (toothpick through the waxed paper). Anyway, the cake ended up looking okay (Winnie the Pooh skipping through flowers) and I will upload it when I can get it onto my hard drive. As for the neighbor, she really liked it, wanted to pay me for it, but I told her it was nice of her to let me practice on her.

Next cake? Hmmmm.... gonna have to experiment on the kids' teachers (they always like to eat cake!) icon_biggrin.gif
