other than milk in your scratch cakes? If so what do you use? I am not sure i like the taste that milk gives to a yellow cake. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have used French Vanilla flavored liquid coffee creamer in white and yellow cake. In chocolate I have used the Hazelnut flavor.
you could try skim milk - because it is missing most of the milk fat, you will remove the majority of the milk flavor. you can buy the skim milk powder and mix it with water according to the directions on the box and that will keep you from having to keep fresh on hand.
DRose, What a good idea. Do you use the same amount of liquid that you would use for the milk? Thanks
I've used soda before. I've also used coffee creamer, but I did half creamer half water. I wasn't sure how "flavorful" using the whole amount would be. I think as long as its a liquid you should be fine using it.
I love recipes with buttermilk in them. they are the only chocolate recipes that I have loved so far.
Water or skim milk.
I mostly use water because here in the Caribbean with the heat ,with milk it will spoil faster.
