I baked my first cake (half sheet 12x1 at my friends cookie shop yesterday. I used a convection oven. I was told to try baking a smaller one first but I was confident!
The cake came out perfectly or so I thought. It has a crater in it (under the top.. I didn't see it until I went to level it) which I think isnt becasue of the oven. When I poured the batter into the pan, I noticed that some sugar and butter was not mixed well. after I poured it, I kinda mixed it a lil bit but not much.
Am I correct in figuring that the crater came from sugar that wasnt mixed in?
