I made this cake as a birthday gift for my friends daughter. It gave me great practice and people loved it. What would you have charged for this so I will have some idea as to what to charge in the future. Thank you! Vicki
Here is the pic (ignore the backwards d in birthday, LOL)

WOW! that came out great!! what size pan is that???
What did you do do get your red color? I relly like that!
Thank you!! It is a BCT (my first actual one on a cake)
I used the remaing pink from the body of the BCT then a combination of Wilton No Taste Red and Christmas red until I got the color I wanted. It wasn't quite a deep red as it shows in the picture. After I was done with the red I added brown to it to get the reddish brown hair!!
I really want to try the Americolor but I just haven't bought the bullet, b/c the S&H is almost as much as the product!!
Vicki
Great job! I'm sure the person was fvery pleased with your work.
What size was the cake? Filling? Fondant or Buttercream? That will help in determining the price
This was a 16" pan, cake from scratch (cake lady yellow cake), no filling, dawns buttercream smoothed with viva paper towel!!
Do you have the pricing matrix? That will help you. I haven't done a cake of this size, but you wouldn't be able to purchase that size cake for under $60 (depending on where you live). I checked a local grocery store and a full sheet which feeds 80 is $70, your 16" feeds 100 people.
What did you charge the customer?
I do have the pricing matrix. This cake was my birthday gift to my friend 3yo, so I didn't charge!

if you have a pricing matrix then you would be able to get a total of what you would have charged for this cake from there... I know this one was a gift but you have to figure out what your costs are and then what ever your mark up is going to be and that will tell you what to charge for this cake... what was the cost of the ingredients for the cake and then the transfers are $7.00 - $10.00 depending how you set your pricing matrix and then every supple you used to make the cake then mark it up 2% or what ever %
What is hard is that in my area I may be able to get $100 for this cake but in your area your only going to be able to get $45 so its a bit hard when people ask what would you charge for this cake. Hope that made since..
Thanks Ladycake!! I totally understand about the different prices for different area, I am pretty sure I could never get 100 for that cake here in SC!!

LOL you never know but you got my point.. I dont think I would ever be able to get that much either... But you know where I was going with it ... and that was what I wanted you to see...
Though you did a great job on the cake, if it were me I don't think I would be charging for it as I am pretty sure Strawberry Shortcake is a copyrite charachter.
Thank you for replyinh Ladie!! I was aware of the copyright issue. I didn't charge for it as it was a gift for my friends daughters b-day. I really just wanted an idea as to what to charge for a cake this size with a large BTC
Ok, I understand now what you were trying to get at. Sorry. I just didnt want you to get in any trouble is all. You did do a wonderful job on the cake!
I usually get 25.00 for character cakes, such as the doggie pan cake, bunny, and the non copywritten ones.
can somone explain to me what the pricing matrix is? I am still learning here. That is a GREAT cake!! I would say $50, but not sure.
