I am doing a cake for my best friends rehearsal dinner. Since she is getting married on her parents sheep farm I thought it would be only appropriate to do the 3D lamb sitting on a sheet cake. Samsgranny had done exactly what I had in mind. She also included a picket fence in the corners made of color flow. I started to make this the other night and it was a horrible expience. I moved on to plan B. I had thought of constructing a picket fence from popsicle sticks. This is working!!! Now my problem is, I had first thought to ice them with buttercream then I had figured it would be far easier to spray paint them instead................ If I only spray paint them for the part that would show and leave the bottom part alone can I still stick this in the cake or would that be not good to stick something spray painted near a cake?????????? Keep in mind I am not talking about the edible spray paint. Do they make edible spray paint in white? If I can't do this idea does anyone have any other ideas for me?????? Sorry I am stressing a lot, I want this cake to be absolutely beautiful for her rehearsal dinner and to WOW everyone there. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!

I would not spray paint them, but that is just my opinion.

Have you tried covering them royal icing or dipping them in white chocolate? either of these methods should work and be faily easy.

Well, they do have a spray icing, but I'm not sure if they have it in white.
It's worth checking into though.

I was thinking the same. Use chocolate or royal icing.

I never even thought of white chocolate!!! My other option was going to make them from fondant and stick them to the sides of the sheet cake but I really didn't want to do this. I love the look of them standing up.

You could probably make the actual fence out of the white chocolate instead of having to dip the sticks in it. If you want something edible, I have used graham cracker stick dipped in white chocolate.

I would definitely stay away from the spray paint, but I think the white chocolate is a great idea! thumbs_up.gif

So here is another question....... I figured I would use wood glue and assemble them then dip them in white chocolate. 4 post with 2 cross boards. Would I have to glue them together or would the chocolate hold the boards together. Does this make sense??
