Does anybody have a good tasting cream cheese icing that I can decorate with? I have used Wilton's cream cheese icing recipe but it was sooooo soft that I could only ice with it.
Thanks!

There is a crusting cream cheese recipe that I use (I got the recipe from someone on this site - can't remember their name).

The recipe is:

1 bar cream cheese
1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 lbs. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream together cream cheese, butter, shortening and vanilla. Gradually add powdered sugar and salt. I only use 3 lbs. of sugar.

This makes quite a bit of icing and colors really good. Let me know how you like it.

FYI - I found the name of the person that gave me the recipe. CrissyAnne. I've used it on quite a bit of the cakes in my photos.

Thanks!!! I will give it a try! I wonder how it would do with a few squares of melted unsweetened chocolate mixed in with it?

Worth a try. It makes quite a bit so maybe you could take a little and try adding it. That way if it doesn't work, you don't waste the whole batch.

I'm going to second the recipe. It really is incredible, but it does make a TON! I've even made roses with it.
