Any one know the best way to start a cake website? How do you get your own domain name? Does every site charge you to make your own site?

I made a blog on blogger.com then bought the domain name from yahoo and have it forwarded to my blog...until I get a "real" website done. The blog is free and I couldn't find anything saying posting my 'business' was illegal.
