Thank you everyone for responding!!!! You are all so great!! OK, for those that have had cakes from cake mixes...this is the texture that I am looking for..fluffy and light. I have never made the Hershey's cake. Is it fluffy and light? or dense? The reason for my wanting it fluffy and light is because I had a request for a 1/2 vanilla 1/2 chocolate cake in which I used a fluffy and light yellow cake recipe (from Gourmet.com for those that want to try it it is delicious and like a cake mix but better...its called Yellow Cake Layers), anyway I wanted a chocolate cake recipe that complemented the yellow one so that it would also be fluffy and light like a chocolate cake mix cake. I ended up using a checkerboard cake recipe...it tasted OK, but it was kinda dense.
Can someone help?
Thanks,
Naty
Yes, I think mine is light........it's very dark in color but not dense. People love my chocolate cake. Hope this helps.
Hi Naty,
Have you tried HERSHEY'S "PERFECTLY CHOCOLATE" Chocolate Cake. The recipe is posted on the Hershey's website. In my opinion, it is light & fluffy (similiar to a cake mix). I've received lots of compliments about the cake. It is also a good recipe for cupcakes.

I am a fan of the Hershey's Chocolate cake, but lately I can't seem to get it right.
I've never had this problem before, but I find that it is too moist. Almost to the point where it's a bit gummy.
Am I not baking it long enough?? Like I said, I've used this recipe many times before with no problem.
Thanks!
Ok, I tried VickiG's chocolate recipe tonight as a 6" test cake. It had good flavor, but I found it to be a little on the medium dryness scale. I did like the fact it was light in texture, like a white cake almost. I think with moistening syrup it would be excellent, but I am sticking to my Epicurious recipe. It had a deeper chocolate flavor and more moist.
