Need a great shortcake recipe! Anyone?

I need to make a shortcake tongiht, but don't have a recipe. Does anyone have one they use and love? I checked ou the recipe section and all I found was one that is steamed and it was only rated with 2 stars, sounds too different for me. I was hoping to find a nice traditional shortcake recipe to layer with a strawberry filling and ice with whipped cream.

I made a cake with it and filled with fresh fruit and it was YUMMY!

This is a recipe I love.

When they come out of the oven, I put a good quality white chocolate candy melt on the top of each shortcake and spread it around as it melts.

Yeah, I usually don't bake cakes from a mix, but looking at all the gourmet recipes for shortcake--they seemed pretty involved for such a simple thing.

Are you needing it for a cake to decorate or just something great to eat .. My gramma had the best recipe...

Place strawberries ,syrup, cinnamon and butter in saucepan and simmer 10 min. Cool Pour into a well buttered 9 in round pan or square tin. Cream the shortening , add egg, beat well. Add 2 tablespoons of the flour, beat then add the corn syrup and beat thoroughly. Sift the remainder of the flour with the baking powder and salt and add alternatly with milk to the first mixture, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. The recipe made with the mix sounds like what I am looking for, but I don't have any Krusteaz, do you think bisquick would work?

I bet bisquick would work. I'm pretty sure bisquick has a shortcake recipe too. Maybe you can find that online then compare the 2 recipes.

I have been meaning to make some shortcakes for about a week now. I have strawberries in the fridge and 2 quarts of cream that will be outdated before my next cake is due. But I know I will make 2 batches and then snack mercilessly on them.

Oh heavens, Bisquick has about 15 different shortcake recipes-- check it out
