Has anyone tried a cake made with the Splenda baking sugar? How does it taste? My husband and I, along with all my coworkers, have recently decided to try a low/no-carb diet (oh the HORROR!), but I still love to bake and don't want to have to give up my favorite hobby. I've seen the Splenda baking sugar blend at the supermarket, but have been afraid to buy it because i'm assuming it doesn't taste that great....has anyone had a good experience with it?
I have used Splenda with success. I have ot used the blend however. The blend is actually a blend of sugar and splenda. When subbing Splenda for sugar I would suggest adding extra baking soda and mix the Splenda in with the dry ingredients instead of creaming it with the butter. Check out www.splenda.com for more info. Also definitely checkout the diabetic icing recipe on this site made with cream cheese, it is to die for!
I've used the Splenda blend to make cakes/cookies for my husband and his siblings who are all diabetics and they love it. We all eat the cookies/cakes and enjoy them more than the regular ones with sugar . I just follow the recipe and sub the splenda for the sugar and it works fine for me.
Just ordered some books from Edward Hamilton, bookseller: cake mix doctor and the chocolate cake mix doctor.
Saw this thread and thought - I just saw that book....
