I see these beautiful cakes with photographs on them and would love to be able to do that at home. Does anyone know how to go about doing that? Do I need a special printer or just special paper and edible ink cartridges??? icon_rolleyes.gif

There are only certain printers out there that you can buy edible ink cartridges for. You can go to www.Kopykake.com and find out which printers are compatible. I have an epson, but most people buy the Canon models. You will want to buy a brand new printer, one that hasn't had regular Ink run through it, and you can find a lot of really good deals on Ebay for the printers.

I would also check your local cake supply stores. You can bring them a picture on a disk (make sure you have the rights to use it), and they print it for you (it's only $5 per picture where I live). Then you won't have to buy all that equipment!

I took my edible image to Wal-Mart and they printed it for me for $5.00. You don't have to put it on a disk - in fact, I don't think their machine handles that kind - just bring the picture that you want done. It is $5.00 for an 8x11 sheet so I was able to fit 2 images on one sheet for that amount.
