Hi, I am in Australia, although I am happy for anyone, anywhere to help me with my query... I am a licensed home kitchen and want to see if it is affordable to get insurance.
I want to cover.. Liability of them eg. tripping over and breaking bones in my house whilst collecting their cake
.....................also liability of them claiming they got sick from the cake, or had an allergic reaction or something like that,
also.................stock insurance of my pans and ingredients etc in my house.

Is anyone else covered for their home business with insurance? How much does it cost?
Many thanks for your help all!!!!!!!!!!!!! icon_cool.gif

I do not know if this helps but I am a home baker in the US and you need a separate business policy. I have one and it cost me $175 per year.

CakemanOH, who do you have your policy with? I'm interested in getting a policy to specifically for liability reasons. . . getting sick off of baked goods, etc. I do not have a commercial kitchen yet but I'm investigating everything.
TIA
Leslie

at least in the US (and I'd venture other countries as well), insurance usually does not cover illegal activities, even if you pay for the policy. Meaning, if you managed to get a policy but you weren't appropriately licensed and were running a home bakery but the state doesn't allow you to do that, any claims against the policy likely wouldn't have to be paid. Something to think about.
