Hey everyone, I've seen fondant used in cases where you need to let the peices dry in a specific shape and THEN put it on the cake... Well, should I tell the people that they should still be able to eat it after it has hardened???? I just don't know!! I am asking because I plan to do ears out fondant and let them dry overnight, THEN stick the ears into the cupcakes... otherwise they would bend and be too pliable. So any thoughts? Concerns for me? Ideas? Input??? The cupcakes are PIKACHU from Pokemon... don't ask me why, they're old news, but thats what the customer wants!!!

So.... let me know.

The fondant is definitely still edible, it is just a little harder so most people probably won't eat it. But I wouldn't necessarily discourage it b/c it is still safe, just let them know that the fondant was allowed to dry out to hold the shape.

HTH

BTW, I see this is only your 4th post, Welcome to Cake Central!

Overnight fondant will not dry hard. People will not break their teeth. Fondant even when it is dry is still very fragile. If you were to make them from gumpaste then yes i think it will dry to stone and you should tell people but fondant - No.

My kids eat it like it's candy! Once they got hold of a bowl of practice fondant figures I had made and had a feast!!
So, no, I wouldn't worry about it.
