I made mmf over a week ago and just tasted what I had left and still taste the same as the day I made it ...this is why I almost always use mmf last forever : ) and someone told me once that if you freeze it I will last at least 6 months ...so I would worry about it at all and use it !!HOpe this helps

thank you so much.but they told me if you put the fondant in the refrigerator it becomes like gluey ..and that happen when I saved the leftovers because the cake i made it was kind of three milks and needed refrigeration...so when you freeze it that dont happens too?

MMF in the freezer alone is fine its when you combine it with the icing on the cake that it becomes tricky, do not refrigerate or freeze once its iced not a good idea icon_sad.gif I learned that this weekend actually I tried to get away with it and thank god I only put the fondant on a few hours before the party because the icing under the fondant was melting slightly ( I noticed while cutting the cake but if that was overnight it would not have looked pretty icon_redface.gif ( thank god it was family ..... poor people have to deal with my experiments icon_rolleyes.gif but hey thats what their for right? icon_biggrin.gif

When I have fondant left over - especially if it's a strong color and no fun to mix - I save it for future use. I've got some that's going on 3 months old. It's fine. You just have to seal it really, really well so it doesn't get crunchy around the edges. Even if it does, you can pinch the crunchy part off and use the rest. You might have to nuke it a few seconds to get it fully pliable again. Be careful, though. I really burned my hand on nuked fondant the other day. Just 3 or 4 seconds at a time!

Well I made the MMF 3 times; and all 3 times I sealed it in plastic wrap. After 3 days it was growing little tiny spots of mold. I almost didn't see them; if the MMF wasn't in white; I wouldn't have known they were there; they were starting out as little bitty

How very strange. I've had zero mold on mine.

I've never had mold on mine either. Maybe the difference in the environments...we keep our house cool, and it isn't damp here at all. I always wrap in several layers of plastic wrap, alternating directions so no air gets it, then put the entire thing in a container with an airtight lid.

I just did Hannah's cake and I used the MMF that I made at the end of February for a baby shower cake. It was wrapped in plastic and stored in a sealed container. I had no idea if it would revive, but I just popped it in the microwave fora few seconds and re-worked it and it was good to go! I was soo glad. So, that was about 2 and 1/2 MONTHS since I made it.

Just so that I understand what most everyone is saying, it is ok to leave the mmf at room temperature? Or did you wrap it in plastic, place in air tight container, then freeze? I was just wondering this myself and am glad to see this post.

Thanks.

I never put mine in the freezer. I thought it wouldn't recover well, so I've never tried it.

Thank you !! icon_smile.gif I have bought the ingredients to try and make my own. I was afraid if I made it, and then not able to get back to it, it would spoil. Now if I can just get home from work at a decent time, lol.

Thanks again.
