Well, I'm getting closer to opening my own Cake Decorating storefront and I was hoping I could get some great hints and tips from all of you out there in cakeland with experience. I will have to outfit the kitchen from scratch and I am hoping to purchase the correct equipment in the beginning. I really don't want to waist any money. I will be purchasing a new DeLuxe Oven but I'm still deciding on which size. Also, if anyone has any great contracts for suppliers such as Cake Flower and Vanilla that would be great. I will also need to find a supplier of bags and custom boxes for cupcakes and cookies. If anyone has any great tips on items they wish they had had in the beginning or items they cant live without, I would love to hear about it. Thank you all! Lori Vreeke

HI,
I am in the same process right now only mine in an in home shop. I still like the comercial equipment because that is what I'm used to. SOme of the things I have learned so far is to know your prices when you shop. There are restraunt supply housees you can find in the yellow pages but they are sometimes WAY overpriced. I used EBAY as a comparrison for the items I wanted. Then I would know just what would be a fair price for used equipment. There is one seller in particular that sells a lot of bakery equipment called "acitydiscount". I've also tried some local auctions but you have to realy be careful not to get too excited about the bidding and pay too much. I"ve seem some people pay way too much at auctions.

I hope that helps.

Give Deluxe ovens a call, they are great, friendly and can really help you decide which model you need.
