Pillow cakes are actually so easy to make....it was an 8" square that cooked with a high dome. Perfectly shaped. I torted it, filled it and froze it. I shaved off the edges on the bottom half to make it rounded and then I iced the cake and refrigerated it. (Only cause colette says it's easier to put fondant on a cool cake.)

Anyway...I elevated the cake, rolled out the fondant and placed it on top. Just smooth it down underneath the cake and trim the corners. It took about 3 minutes. Then decorate it any way you'd like....

Thanks for asking!![/quote]

One more question, since you have to refrigerate the cake once you ice it, how do you get the fondant to stick to it? icon_smile.gif

That is totally inspiring. I would love to be able to do one like this some day.

I tried finding collette's book at the library but they didn't have it. I am going to have to save my pennies and order it I guess.

Just wanted to ask, do you work on your cakes at home? Do you have children? I did three cakes this weekend not even Half as good as yours! And I just about lost it! Stayed up until 3 am one night and got up at 630 the next morning! I can't even imagine thinking about doing a cake like this!! Maybe one day..... a long long time from now.. lol

Hi there....to answer your question...I have a 4 and 7 year old....Basically I work at night after bedtime or the 3 days a week that my daughter is in nursery school, I take advantage of the time.

So, to tie in both questions.....my cake is not as perfect as you may think....I am a great "hider" of my imperfections . Basically, a lot of good scheduling and planning allows me to do things at a more leisurely pace and therefore less mistakes. I won't attempt a cake unless I draw it and make a list of what needs to be done on it......sort of how a bride plans her wedding.....I plan my week or two before the due date and what I will do on each of those days.

Thanks to everyone, again...
