Did you experiment with any mixed color bouquets? How did you make the sentiment cards?

I spend way too much time here on CC and I wasn't going to peek tonight........but I'm so glad I did!!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Great idea for teachers! I'm thinking of adding a cupcake pick or two and making some for upcoming graduations! I baked more cupcakes tonight and am posting some multi-colored bouquets tomorrow....some yellow, some red roses or yellow and coral.....should look very pretty! I'll be sure to post them! I just printed the cards on my computer and cut them out!

I was just thinking they would be great for graduation parties. You could decorate in the school colors and even use them as table decorations! If it weren't nearly midnight, I would start baking right now! I wonder how mini cupcakes would look either mixed in with the standard size or as their own bouquet? Hmm........I might have to experiment. thumbs_up.gif

Hey thanks for the tip thumbs_up.gif , I usually started on the outside. It's nice how it folds down like that.

Thanks, Cambo, for sharing the pictures as well as your techniques. You are always so helpful! My sister is in a wedding in September that I'm doing the cakes for. Anyways, they are in the process of planning the shower which has a picnic theme and they wanted cupcakes...when I saw these bouquets I called my sister and told her I've seen a great idea. Thanks for sharing...I will be trying my hand at these as they would be perfect for the shower. Thanks again for sharing! Jodie

Cambo, what a GREAT idea! I think I've saved every single one of your bouquet pics into my faves! LOL. I had a question though, how do you swirl your two colors together?

Thanks for sharing your wonderful take on this idea with all of us! icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif

These are great!! I was thinking about packaging.. you'd need a spacer or sorts.. like a styrofoam wreath ring that would fit around the body of the pot to give you a buffer zone of sorts so the cellophane wouldn't hit the flowers. You could also add some skewers to psh out the cellophane as well.. or maybe that would work on it's own? Push 3 or 4 full sized skewers into the ball and angle them so that they stick outside the perimeter of the flowers and then gather the cellophane around that. Just a few ideas.. icon_biggrin.gif

They look cute. I think they might look a little better if there was a way to get them closer together, so you don't see so much of the cupcake liner.

Beautiful work!! How many minis are in that bouquet? Do you make the rose directly on the cupcake? I'm guessing if you have a skewer in it, the cupcake surface would act as a flower nail.

I'm baking cupcakes right now icon_biggrin.gif. I don't have the other supplies I need to assemble the bouquet so that part will have to wait until tomorrow. The price of gas is really stifling my creative abilities!! icon_cry.gif

I get about 20-22 mini cupcakes in that particular container which is about the same size as a 6" flower pot I would say. I put a half of a styrofoam ball in it and yes I frost the rose directly on the cupcake and then put it in place and stick a toothpick down straight into the rose and into the foam then with the tip of a tip 1 I push the toothpick into the cupcake more so you can't see it!!

Just a thought on the packaging part....to keep the cello from messing up the design, maybe add the long curly-Q stems you see in flower arrangements? They would stick out far enough and maybe add to overall bouquet look. Might do the trick. I think you can even find them in different colors. icon_smile.gif

I know what you mean.....I don't particularly care for the liner either! If you look on page one of this thread....the bouquet I made that had 14 in it....that's a way to hid the liners, just add more cupcakes! Also, I'm going to try colored "foil" liners in different colors. Seems to me just a few days ago someone posted a link to a site that made all sorts of foil CC liners, in every color you can imagine, from pastels to royals! That way if the liners show, they're pretty ones!

there are alot of great ideas for this, it is such a clever way to do cupcakes!

cammie, just a thought...i dont know to what extent you do business (i am assuming you have a shop) so it may not be an issue, but i know for me, that to offer 7 cupcakes or 14, or 24, the cost is still the same on my end because since i dont bake in bulk- or all day (hobby- small scale sales here and there) , i would have to make a full cake recipe whether i had an order for 7,14 or 2 dozen. just a thought. now if you are baking all day anyway, it may not be a big deal to pull out a little batter from one batch for a few cupcakes...i dont know.

sometimes when I just have an order for one of these bouquets.....I buy the little jiffy cake mixes.....it makes 24 mini cupcakes perfectly...and it only costs like 39 or 49 cents at Wal mart.....then I don't feel like I'm wasting cake mix or being forced to bake more than I need and then I can bake them to order!

Do you doctor the jiffy mixes at all? I tried once adding half a box of pudding and half a carton of yogurt--it didn't help much. I would love to find a way to jazz up those mixes. thumbs_up.gif

I have not baked cupcakes for a long, long time. Please refresh my memory. Just fill the cup only half full with cake batter? Or is it about 3/4 full? Probably stupid question, but when I saw yours, Cambo, without the icing, I thought, "My cupcakes would NEVER come out that perfect!" I know you cover with icing so it doesn't show, but I remember when I have baked cupcakes before they would overflow a little. I LOVE this idea! Wish I could do it now, but I'm working on my nephew's cake for his party tomorrow. icon_smile.gif

I'm like you....I either use left over batter from cakes that I bake, or I'll bake a whole mix worth of cupcakes! I know what you mean about the cost being the same...however, for the bouquets, the cost would only be slightly more since I'm using more icing, liners, etc. Good point!

Thank you! I fill mine 1/2 full...3/4 would take them to the rim or just popping over (which is ok too I guess icon_lol.gif ) I use a scoop to deliver the batter to the cups....I bought it at Sur La Table....but they have them in any "finer" kitchen goods store. It's a 1-7/8" scoop and if you fill it just to the top (don't overfill) it dispenses the PERFECT amount everytime!

I absolutely love these little bouquets! I need to try this for Mother's Day and as soon as I saw the pics, I headed straight out the door to buy supplies! My only problem is that I can't find the little buckets or pails you used (specifically in the "Lavender swirl bouquet"). Can you tell me where you got them? I know I've seen them around before, but there was nothing in any store I tried. Would flower shops sell them? Cheap ones?
