I know I've seen them around before, but there was nothing in any store I tried. Would flower shops sell them? Cheap ones?

I've had those little pails for a couple of years....and I bought them at a vendor's only store in my area called The Flower Factory. Only thing is, they don't have them all the time, which is why I bought them out the last time I saw them. Sometimes Target has really neat little containers in the dollar section.

i was going to suggest target too. or michaels, hobby lobby, joanns or party city. perhaps in the spring or summer they are more common to find. you can also order them from the oriental trading company. www.orientaltrading.com (i think)

Do you doctor the jiffy mixes at all? I tried once adding half a box of pudding and half a carton of yogurt--it didn't help much. I would love to find a way to jazz up those mixes. thumbs_up.gif

I do doctor them just like with my reg. mixes......I add half a thing of pudding mix and put milk instead of water and add one extra egg.

Hi Cambo,
These bouquets look great..I wish I was on the receiving end!

This may be a stupid question but..can I just ask which icing you use, as you mentioned yours crusts? When I make mine with buttercream they never harden.

Thanks for all the pics too.

Jiffy is a brand of mixes--cake, muffin, biscuit, frosting. The mixes make a small quantity (for example, one mix makes six corn muffins......my favorite).

Yes, they have some....they are metal, but I think that would add to the "garden" look! Thanks, melysa!

I have seen those type of containers at Dollar Tree. I think the ones I've seen are square, but I'm sure that will still work. Check your local Dollar Tree or Dollar General or even Wal-Mart. Probably in the floral section or maybe look in the plant/gardening section-you might find something better that you would like. Of course get plastic or that lightweight metal, be sure to weigh them down with something. I like those little glass gems and they are at Dollar tree in the small bag. icon_wink.gif

First of all....welcome to CC and congrats on your first post! Yes, I've imagined a really large bouquet for wedding table centerpieces or a nice buffet centerpiece, etc. I think that would look amazing, especially if those "curly" branch/stick-like things were added to give it height! That would look beautiful! I have a larger container, and LOTS of cupcakes, so I'll have to try that today!

I can't wait to see how it works. I was thinking of doing a really big one for the shower my sister is throwing. Didn't want to do a bunch of little bouquets as I'm already doing cake centerpieces for the wedding. A big one would be great. Jodie

I love these. However, I feel I should point out, that, "DUH", don't fill the cupcakes before you try to attach them. Dumb me, make cupcakes like normal, and go ahead and fill them like normal, without even thinking. Oh yeah, I wanted to make a bouquet with these! Needless to say, they were much more difficult to attach! Man, I guess I didn't have enough coffee.

Anyway, thanks, Cambo, so much for all your ideas and your willingness to share with all of us.

BTW, we have those little metal pails at Michaels, but they are kind of expensive (I think) at $3.49 Canadian, but sometimes you can pick them up on clearance. I've seen them seasonally at WalMart, also, for about $1.49 Canadian. I like to keep them on my table (different colours for different seasons) with candies in them.

Try the Dollar Store too.. sometimes they have little things like that you could pick up really cheap. Or if you have a Christmas Tree Shoppe near you that'd work too.. I don't know how regional those are though.. they are all over the North East.

Does anyone know how to make carnations or roses onto the cupcakes for a cupcake bouquet? They are so cute I'd really like to make one.

I made roses directly onto mine.......I used the mini cupcakes though and just the normal 104 rose petal tip and just iced the cupcakes thinly so the rose would stick and then just piped my rose directly onto the cupcake turning the cupcake in my hand as I went almost like the cupcake itself was the flower nail.

First off... I LOOOOOVE these... I have ever since I saw KHalsteads last month some time.
Cambo... I love your too and since I'm not the best at making real rose I love how simple yours seem. Thanks so much for all the tips. I can't wait to try them! Did I mention I love these?!? icon_lol.gif
I found these buckets on Oriental and I was wondering if it is the right thing...

If I'm not mistaken, they come to about 66 cents each before shipping. Is that a good deal? They aslo have primary colors and neon colors availible. I found them by searching TIN PAIL. Do you know where I could get the styro ball in bulk?

Also, when you say "toothpick" am assuming you mean the big fat sandwich picks right?

Thanks for the advice on the roses. Does anyone know how carnations are made on top of cupcakes? I seen a pot with them in there and they were so pretty.

I love all these ideas!

KHalstead did you cover the styrofoam with anything before putting the mini-cupcakes on? They look dense enough that the foam probably was not showing through but I was wondering if you had to cover any gaps.

You could definitely use those tin pails from Oriental Trading, just know that they are 3" in size instead of 4", but that's fine because you can just get a 3" styrofoam ball! It would probably hold 6-10 cupcakes! I purchase my foam from a vendor's only store that's close to me...so maybe someone else has a lead for you on that! Yes, the toothpicks are the round ones that are pointy on each end!

finally I made it through all of that!!! I was so afraid that it would keep growing before I finished it all!!!!

I have just one question: Do you ice your cc before skewering them to the styrofoam, or after??

Do you use one or two picks per cc??? This is a great idea to change up the same ole cake trends!!

Yes, I ice all of the cupcakes before sticking them on! You could use more than one pick/skewer per cupcake, definitely!

Cambo-what a great idea and what beautiful cupcakes! You are very, very talented and creative.
Yesterday at Michaels I found a cupcake decorating kit by Wilton. It was around $8, but with coupon ended up being less than $5. It has the long tip to inject filling into the cupcake, tips 12, 22, and 1M. I know several decorators have had trouble finding the 1M tip, so this could be a possible solution. It's a very nice kit.

I did cover it with tissue paper just so that when the cupcakes were removed one by one it wouldn't be too ugly! But it wasn't completely necessary there really weren't any gaps to speak of....I had trouble getting leaves in amongst the roses actually lol
