So, off I toddled to the American Women's Club today with my business cards and samples in hand. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the reception I received! The office manager was so nice to me (I had been told by an American friend who used to be a member that most of the women in the AWC were complete cows!). They were falling over themselves about my samples, saying how fabulous they tasted and that they were so thrilled that it was all scratch baked (who'd of thought icon_lol.gificon_confused.gif !), and that too many Americans rely on box mixes - as far as they were concerned homemade is the best - yay! They even asked if I did 'tea parties' - I said yes, of course!

Anyhoo, the office manager's dad used to be in marketing and she is very savvy in that way, so she's had me print up an A4 poster for the notice board and took a whole box (250) of my business cards! She was so impressed that she fully intended to force them on everyone who walked through their doors today!!! She saved some of the cupcakes for the ballet class later today and has saved the cookies for the bridge club on Monday. The photos of what I took are in my gallery (apart from the brownies, cos they were just brownies icon_lol.gif !).

Just wanted to share, I'm so excited and feel far more positive about things now. I also got my first wedding cake enquiry yesterday (which would mean me changing our vacation dates - but I wouldn't care!), and 2 orders for cakes for next Friday!

Thanks for reading, I know I've rambled on, I'm just psyched! Let's hope it doesn't all lead to nothing! icon_biggrin.gif

Congratulations! I'm excited for you....everything sounds wonderful!
Ya' know, this brings up an interesting idea....... Could we get CC to post an "article" re different marketing ideas for those who want to expand their business? I think it would be a great idea to have a list of ideas of how to get out there and be "discovered"!!! Here are some thoughts:

Civic clubs/organizations
schools
your local bank
charity events
wedding planners (percentage given)
caterers -- ditto
florists -- ditto
bridal shops -- ditto
corporate accounts
hospitals

Other ideas???? Please add to this list.......I know how creative you all are!!!
