You should try the cake mix extender recipe on this website. It's fabulous.

My favorite recipe for a very moist and extra chocolaty chocolate cake is by adding a package of chocolate instant pudding to the cake mix (any boxed) replacing the water with buttemilk, adding a teaspoon of vanilla and 2 to 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder. This is so good, I do not even like chocolate cake but I love this one. And I always add a box of pudding to any other flavor of cake mix, sometimes also adding sour cream and/or replacing the water with milk.

Does it amke a difference if you add cook and serve pudding instead of instant pudding? I haven't tried this yet because I always buy cook and serve.Does it matter?

I always use the instant. There was a thread not long ago (I'm sorry I don't remember who started it) and said they accidentally put in the cook 'n serve and it turned out fine.
