Hi y'all!

I just did a batch of No Fail cookies using Antonia74's icing. I applied a base coat using thinned icing and then let it dry for several hours. Then I used the icing to apply details to the cookies without thinning it. At first, the details looked fine, but then they started to settle and expand icon_cry.gif . I ended up switching to a 1 tip to do the details so that the details didn't look so messy, but it's really hard for me to make pretty, fluid lines with a tip that small.

Does anyone else have this problem? Should I add more powdered sugar to the icing to make it thicker? I appreciate any advice you could give me!

blessings,
patty

If the royal icing isn't thick enough, it will tend to spread and settle a bit after you pipe it on.

If you want your decorations to hold their shape well, just add a bit of powdered sugar to make it more stiff.

Just mix up a little to try the consistency, and it won't take long to recognize which consistency works best for you.

hth!
Laura.
