I'm having conflicting advise, some people think that cooking spray with flour dusted over is best, another said to use the wilten cake release ( i dont like the taste it gives to the cake) and another is the vegetable shortening with flour dusted over top. Please, if you have a better way to grease a pan, tell me. Whats the best way to do it, and whats your favorite way? Thanks!!!
I have used many different types of pan grease. You yourself will have to try alot to find the one you like. JMO
I line the bottom of the pan with parchment and spray the entire pan with the kroger version of butter flavored pam.
I have done the shortening and flour routine before, but the pam is just easier.

I read this one on here. I mix equal parts of Crisco, flour and vegetable oil. I keep it in a plastic container with a lid on and use a pastry brush to coat my pans. Works like a charm EVERY time. (And there's no fusing with cutting parchment or waxed paper!)
i like to just line the bottom with parchment and spray the sides with a cooking spray then dusted with flour. that works best for me. when the cake is done, i just run a knife around the sides and it just pops right out. then all you gotta do is peel the parchment off.
I cover my pan with margarine and then dust with flour, I have been doing this for many years and have never had a problem..
Over a year ago I read the homemade cake release recipe on here. I have been using it ever since. It is the equal parts oil, shortening, and flour recipe.
It works wonders and is cheap.
I use either a heavy dose of non-stick spray (usually store brand version of Pam). OR a heavy greasing with Crisco.
Crisco works prefectly for me 100% of the time, but I'm often too lasy and would rather just spray!
(NO flour or parchemnt with either).
For round or rectangular pans, I have always greased with Crisco and lined with a wax paper round or rectangle. I have never had a problem with the cake releasing.
I have the cake release, and it works very well, but can get pricey. I made the cake release. It didn't work well for me. We had a couple of fights! I just bought the crisco spray with flour in it, and I am in love!! It works excellent, for me.
IF its about ease AND preference... Crisco for Baking Spray (with flour)
if its about cost and whats lying around, then I use a clean paper towel dabbed in Crisco and dust with flour.... I have lots more to do and am not gonna find the time to cut flipping circles no matter how it works LOL
kudos to u that do
but I love my spray now that its made with flour added!
Crisco with flour or Wilton spray works perfect every time. Baker's Joy never works for me and I do not have the time to try another method.
I use Crisco baking spray with flour. I used to use the Wilton cake release, but like you, I thought it had a taste to it that I didn't care for.

Ditto....I used to grease and flour my pans, but have never looked back!
