I have to make a wedding cake for someone and wanted to do it with fondant. The problem is the fondant keeps sticking to my mat that I am rolling it on when I want to take it off to place on the cake. I have used cornstarch and icing sugar. Is there a better way to keep it from sticking and getting it off without ripping it? Thanks!!

Crisco. Or any other shortening. It works great! The corn starch doesn't work at all for me either!!

I keep flipping my fondant as I am rolling it so I know that it hasn't gotten stuck. It also rolls out a little easier if you keep flipping it. I also keep a paper towel right next to me that has a little bit of shortening on it. I grease the mat lightly every time I flip it.
I probably don't need to do it that much, but it is SO annoying when you finally get it where you want it and it sticks! Better to be safe than sorry!

Yep. you gotta keep lifting and moving it as you roll it out...

I also have the same problem. I try to flip when I roll but it just rips apart. I'm going to try crisco. Thanks for the tips!
