Bling Bling?

Ok...since I have not found any edible diamondesque cake decorations, I am coming to my cake family for help.

My best friends birthday is in a couple months, and I have been asked to make his birthday cake. I am going to make a regular sheet cake for the masses, that is already settled. But I want to make him his own personal cake, and put the emblem of his favorite fashion designer on it. I've decided, I'm going to make the logo out of chocolate, but I'd like for it to be studded with "diamonds"...Since I can't find edible ones, can I use rhinestones, or can someone suggest something to get the "Bling Bling effect?" Thanks a whole lot everyone!

I think it was Lisa that made a cake with the candy gems on it. Maybe something like that, but smaller and with some luster dust to make it shine? You could make it like a BCT. Hope this helps.

I don't think you should add rhinestones...they're small and someone may end up eating one. You can buy candy diamonds or you can make them...

4th row, 6th one Maybe brush these with piping gel to make them shine.

Here's how to make them...

You might also try using rock candy that comes on a stick. You can probably find some at a candy shop or party store. Just break it off the stick in small pieces. You can also buy rock candy crystals.

You're welcome. I remember making rock candy in grade school...it was so much fun!

Sugarcraft also has chocolate molds in the shapes of gems and diamonds.

No problem, but I am not sure if I gave the correct credit. I don't want to steal anyones thunder. Who made the cake with the gems on it?

Hmmmm...I don't know. Do you remember what it looked like? I'd love to see it.

It was a circular shape cake with candy gems all over it. I tried to find it in the gallery, but no luck. I'll keep searching.
