Making Chocolate Bc.. With Cocoa Powder Or Nestle Semi Sweet

I am making a german chcolate cake.. and i would like to use some Chocolate BC for decorating... I have never made it before..
I have some cocoa powder and then i have a bag of nestle morsels.. which should i use to m ake the chocolate BC?? and how?

Well, my opinion would be cocoa powder but then again, I've never used the choc chips for buttercream icing so I don't know how that is.

I would use the cocoa powder. That is what I normally use when doing the chocolate bc for my decorating. My Wilton instructor gave me a hint in getting the powder to mix in a bit better, melt some of the shortening with the powder and then incorporate that in the icing that way.

If you do choose something other than the cocoa powder, you will want to use an unsweetened chocolate. I have been in a pinch with no cocoa powder and I used the unsweetened chocolate squares, I just chopped them up and melted them down before adding to the icing.

I use cocoa powder and instead of water or milk, I use chocolate milk! Sooooo yummy and smooth icon_smile.gif
